The Pilot's Watch 43 TOP GUN features a case made of black ceramic, a black dial, and a titanium case back and crown. A deep, matte black inspired by the coatings and technical components of modern jets; black zirconium oxide ceramic has been the hallmark of IWC TOP GUN since 2007. IWC and Pantone® specified this color as IWC Jet Black. 

In 1986, IWC was the first watch manufacturer to present a case made of black zirconium oxide ceramic. Since 1994, this high-tech material has also been used in Pilot’s Watches. Engineering ceramics is based on a complex manufacturing process. Powdered raw materials, primarily minerals or silicates, are mixed with auxiliary substances, shaped and sintered at high temperatures in a kiln.
